Dress-Up Day

Everyone looked very special on Dress-Up Day and made a great effort to depict what they might like to be when they grow up. We have really learnt a lot as we have studied people in our community and their roles.

On Wheels Day I had my roller skates. I zoomed past Jess. I said, “ Hey Jess! How is your day going?”

“Good,” said Jess.

I zoomed past Sophia too. I had lots of fun.

On  Wheels Day I was riding my scooter. I crashed into Tyrese and he got hurt.

Harry had a cool scooter. My scooter is red and black and my scooter is cool too.

People in Our Community

Thank you to those who have come to talk to us about their jobs in our community. It has given us lots to discuss and lots to learn. We have had a rugby coach/PE teacher, a hairdresser, mechanic,  truck driver/instructor,  Red Cross worker, Girl Guide leader, First Aid volunteer, calligraphy instructor, swim instructor and of course a principal!

Bees Bees and More Bees

We visited the Honey Factory recently and as a result began a little inquiry about how honey is made. We are sharing what we learnt at  assembly this week. We did enjoy our little tasting sessions too!

Dance for Asthma With Our Buddies

We really enjoyed dancing in the Autumn leaves with our buddies and at the same time we raised awareness of asthma through our video. Unfortunately we didn't win but that's OK!

Spirit of Polynesia Show

What a fantastic time we had when Bernard Mangakahia visited recently. He reminded all of us about the importance of family and our culture and showed us some fantastic dance moves from several cultures around the world.

Room 1 - Number 1 Kids

Here is the first class photo since the new children from Room 2 have joined us.

Rugby Fun

We now have some new students in Room 1 and we welcome them to our class. Today we all went outside and played some rugby with Hayden from the Tasman Makos. We practiced passing the ball to each other and we played ripper tag.

Robot Writing

We learned about robots lately as we were doing some work on road safety. Our story was about a robot who had no road sense programmed into him and caused a lot of trouble on the road. here are some stories that we made up about robots:

I took my robot home. My robot messed up and I was angry.

I told my robot to go to my bedroom.

Then he threw all the books out of the bedroom.

I broke him into little pieces.

I took my robot to the supermarket. He went to sleep in the trolley. Then he ran in the supermarket and he hid behind the vegetables.

I looked and looked but he ran away to hide behind the fish.

We also learned a robot poem and made some robots out of boxes. Come in and meet them.

Lovely Rain

We were so happy to see some rain today, we went outside with bare feet and our umbrellas and paddled in the puddles!

Learning About being Friends

The RainbowFish.

We have been reading a story about the rainbow fish and how he learned to make friends with the other fish in the ocean. He learned to share and take turns with others. We are learning to do that too. Come in and see the rainbow fish we have made. They are all in a big net on our wall.

We are very happy to have some brightly painted tables in our room. Thank you to Paul Davis for doing this job for us. We are sure they will make us work very hard as we sit at them!
